Commercial xylidine is a mixture of isomers in which the 2,4-, 2,5- and 2,6-isomers dominate.
Physical properties differ for the various isomers of the chemical.
2,6-Xylidine is possibly carcinogenic to humans.
Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated.
Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available.
The odour warning when the exposure limit value is exceeded is insufficient.
